Districts Plant Sale!
Think Spring! Think Conservation! Plant a tree! Grow your own food!
The Hampden and Hampshire Conservation Districts are tax-exempt, non-profit organizations working with the USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service to protect natural resources and promote environmental education in Hamdpen and Hampshire counties. The annual spring plant sale is the major fundraising source which allows us to provide these services.
You may make a tax-deductible donation to help support the Districts.
Thank you for contributing to local conservation!
Order by Saturday, April 4th, 2015.
Bring your soil for testing- Western Massachusetts Master Gardeners will be available on the day of the plant sale to answer questions on pruning, composting, and bare-root planting methods. They will also be conducting soil testing for a $1 donation.
How to take a soil sample- Dig a hole 6-8" deep (3-4" for lawns). Using a clean trowel, take a thick vertical slice from the side of the hole. Place in a clean container. Repeat sampling in at least 5 test holes. Mix well in a container. Place 1/2 cup of the mixed soil in a small plastic bag, close tightly, and bring to pick-up.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To reduce delivery costs to the Districts, we have combined our pick-up locations to Northampton. (There will be NO pick-up at the BIG E.)
